Sir Peter Smith was called to the Bar in 1975 by Lincoln’s Inn. He was a lecturer at Manchester University between 1977 and 1983. He practiced on the Northern Circuit from 1979 until 2002. He was made a Queen’s Counsel in April 2002.
In 1994 he was appointed a Recorder of the Crown Court and a Deputy Judge of the High Court. In 1995 he became an Acting Deemster of the Isle of Man. He was appointed to the Chancery Division 15th April 2002.
