Administrative Appeals Chamber President

Mr Justice Charles was appointed the President of the Administrative Appeals Chamber in the Upper Tribunal in 2012.  A Judge of the High Court of Justice, since 1998, he was called to the Bar in 1971. He became Junior Counsel to the Crown (Chancery) in 1986; First Junior Counsel to HM Treasury on Chancery Matters from 1989 to 1998 and Judge in charge of the Court of Protection in 2011. In January 2014 Mr Justice Charles transferred from the Family Division of the High Court to the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court and was appointed as Vice-President of the Court of Protection, for a three-year term.
