Proposals for the future of the Civil Justice System

It is almost six years since the Civil Procedure Rules were introduced, following Lord Woolf’s two reports “Access to Justice”. The Rules have brought about a number of significant changes to the way in which the civil justice system operates in England and Wales, and Lord Woolf was particularly keen to see reductions in both cost and delay. Sufficient time has now elapsed to enable the impact of the Rules to be assessed, and to consider whether the civil justice system is in need of further revision.
