In relation to B90MA177 on 15th December 2016, at Manchester Civil Justice Centre, 1 Bridge Street West, Manchester, M60 9DJ, I, His Honour Judge Gore QC sentence Beston Mella, to an immediate custodial sentence of 18 weeks imprisonment for contempt of court. The basis of that sentence was that the Defendant admitted 3 accounts of contempt of Court, namely:

  1. He verified a document namely a set of particulars of claim dated 16 August 2012 with a statement of truth containing a false statement namely “at all material times the Claimant was a passenger in a Vauxhall Zafira motor vehicle, Registration number MA56ZZS”, which statement was intended to interfere with and/or was likely to have interfered with the course of justice.
  1. He verified a document namely a set of particulars of claim dated 16 August 2012 with a statement of truth containing a false statement namely “by reason of the facts and matters aforesaid, the Claimant sustained injury and suffered loss”, which statement was intended to interfere with and/or was likely to have interfered with the course of justice
  1. He verified a document namely a set of particulars of claim dated 16 August 2012 with a statement of truth containing a false statement namely “the Claimant sustained injury to his neck and lower back”, which statement was intended to interfere with and/or was likely to have interfered with the course of justice

The Defendant received 18 weeks custodial sentence for each of the above reasons, which are to run concurrently.
