An expert working group of the Civil Justice Council (CJC) has published a comprehensive report on Before The Event (BTE) legal expenses insurance.
The report explores the role BTE insurance plays (and can potentially play) in enhancing access to justice in England and Wales. It offers a comprehensive range of information, interviews, case studies and analysis.
The report studies distribution and take-up of BTE, and looks at the services it provides, such as the role of legal helplines. It also assesses levels of awareness and the pricing of policies.
It does not make recommendations, but provides material for policy makers and commercial interests to consider in developing BTE services, and for consumers in purchasing them.
