Tribunal Judge James Robert Anthony Hanratty RD retires with effect from 1 May 2014.

Tribunal Judge Hanratty RD (68) was admitted as a Solicitor in 1970. He was the Legal Adviser in Hong Kong to The UK Government on the Handover of Hong Kong to China from 1991 to 1997. He was appointed a part-time Immigration Adjudicator in 1997, part-time Special Immigration Adjudicator in 1998 and full-time Immigration Adjudicator in 2000 (now known as Judge of the First Tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber)). He was President of the Council of Immigration Judges for the UK from 2002 to 2003.
