Senior Circuit Judge Retirement: Stokes QC DL

His Honour Judge Michael George Thomas Stokes QC, DL retires as a Senior Circuit Judge with effect from 6 August 2016.

His Honour Judge Stokes QC, DL (68) was called to the Bar (G) in 1971, took Silk in 1994 and elected as a Bencher in 2013. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1986, a Recorder in 1990 and a Legal Member of the Restricted Patients Panel (Mental Health Review Tribunal) in 1999. He was appointed a Circuit Judge in 2001 and a Senior Circuit Judge in 2006. He was appointed the Resident Judge at Leicester Crown Court from 2002 to 2006 and the Resident Judge for Nottingham Crown Court in 2006, the Honorary Recorder of Nottingham from 2007, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2010 and a Judge of the First-tier Tribunal in 2013 (Health, Education and Social Care Chamber). He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Nottinghamshire in March 2016.
