The Honourable Sir Robert Michael Owen retires from the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) with effect from 20 September 2014.

Sir Robert Owen (70) was called to the Bar (I) in 1968, elected as a Bencher in 1995 and took Silk in 1988. He was appointed a Recorder in 1987, Deputy High Court Judge in 1994, Member of the London Common Law and Commercial Bar Association from 1994 to 1995, Chairman of the General Council of the Bar in 1997 and a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 2001. He was appointed Chairman of the Civil Committee for the Judicial Studies Board from 2004 to 2008 and Presiding Judge for the Western Circuit from 2005 to 2008. He was appointed the Director of Training for the Senior Judiciary from 2010 to 2012 and Judge by Request for the Upper Tribunal (Administrative Appeals) and (Immigration and Asylum) Tribunals.
