High Court: Retirement of The Honourable Sir Michael George Tugendhat

The Honourable Sir Michael George Tugendhat retires from the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) with effect from 3 June 2014.

Sir Michael Tugendhat (69) was called to the Bar (I) in 1969, elected as a Bencher in 1988 and took Silk in 1986. He was appointed a Member of the Bar Council from 1992 to 1994, a Recorder in 1994 and approved to sit as a Deputy High Court Judge in 1995. He was appointed Chairman of the Civil Law Working Party on Corruption in 1999 and a Member of the Management Committee for the Advice on Individual Rights in Europe Centre from 2000 to 2003. He was appointed a Judge of the Courts of Appeal in Jersey and Guernsey in 2000, a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 2003 and the Judge in charge of the Queen’s Bench jury and non-jury lists since 2010.
