High Court: Retirement of The Honourable Sir Andrew Charles Smith

The Honourable Sir Andrew Smith retires from the High Court (Queen’s Bench) with effect from 27 October 2016.

Sir Andrew Smith (68) was called to the Bar (M) in 1974, took Silk in 1990 and elected a Bencher in 1999. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1992, a Recorder in 1996 and a Legal Member of the Restricted Patients Panel (Mental Health Review Tribunal) in 1999. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench) in 2000, Presiding Judge for the North East Circuit from 2003 to 2006 and a Judge in Charge, Commercial Court in 2008.
