High Court Judge Appointment: May

Mrs Justice MayThe Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Her Honour Judge Juliet Mary May QC to be a Justice of the High Court with effect from 3 December 2015 on the retirement of Mr Justice Akenhead.

The Lord Chief Justice will assign Her Honour Judge May to the Queen’s Bench Division.

Notes for editors

Her Honour Judge May, 54, was called to the Bar (I) in 1988 and took Silk in 2008. She was appointed as a Circuit Judge in 2008 and is approved to sit as a deputy High Court Judge.

Mr Justice Akenhead was called to the Bar (I) in 1972 and took Silk in 1989. He was appointed as a Recorder in 1994 and as a judge of the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court in 2007.
