The Queen has appointed Joanna Mary Bridget Dickens to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Michael Gove MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd.
The Lord Chief Justice has deployed her to the Midland Circuit, based at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court with effect from 18 April 2016.

Joanna Mary Bridget Dickens (previously practised in the name of Lyons), aged 53, will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Dickens. She was admitted as a Solicitor in 1990. She was appointed as an Adjudicator, Road User Charging Tribunal in 2004, as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2005, as a First- Tier Tribunal Judge, Tax Chamber in 2009 and as a Deputy District Judge (County Court) in 2010.
