Lord Justice Richards retires as Lord Justice of Appeal with effect from 17 February 2016.

Sir Stephen Price Richards (65) was called to the Bar (G) in 1975 and elected a Bencher in 1992. He was Standing Counsel to the Director General of Fair Trading from 1989 to 1991, a Junior Counsel to the Crown from 1990 to 1991 and First Junior Treasury Counsel, Common Law from 1992 to 1997. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1992, a Recorder in 1996, a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 1997, Presiding Judge of the Wales and Chester Circuit from 2000 to 2003 and a Lord Justice of Appeal in 2005, when he was sworn as a Privy Councillor. He was appointed Deputy Head of Civil Justice in 2013. He was also Deputy Chairman of the Boundary Commission for Wales from 2001 to 2005.
