Court of Appeal: Retirement of Lord Justice Elias

Lord Justice Elias retires as Lord Justice of Appeal with effect from 29 March 2017.

Sir Patrick Elias (70) was called to the Bar (I) in 1973, took Silk in 1990 and was elected a Bencher in 1995. He was appointed a Recorder in 1997, a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 1999 and President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal in 2006. He was appointed Lord Justice of Appeal in 2009, when he was sworn as a Privy Councillor.
