Court of Appeal: Retirement of Lord Justice Clarke

Lord Justice Clarke retires as Lord Justice of Appeal with effect from 15 March 2017.

Sir Christopher Simon Courtenay Stephenson Clarke (70) was called to the Bar (M) in 1969, took Silk in 1984 and was elected a Bencher in 1991. He was appointed a Recorder in 1990, a Member of the Bar Council and a Deputy High Court Judge in 1993, a Judge of the Courts of Appeal (Jersey and Guernsey) in 1998, a Judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 2005 and a Lord Justice of Appeal in 2013, when he was sworn as a Privy Councillor. He was appointed Judge of the Court of Ecclesiastical Causes Reserved in 2015.
