The Queen has appointed Simon Edward Medland QC to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lidington MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Northern Circuit, based at Preston Crown Court with effect from 22 January 2018.

Notes to editors

Simon Edward Medland, aged 52, will be known as His Honour Judge Medland QC. He was called to the Bar in 1991 and took silk in 2011. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2005.
