Circuit Judge: Death in service

The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, and the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Michael Gove MP, were saddened to learn of the death of His Honour Judge Sir Gavyn Farr Arthur on 16 May 2016.

Sir Gavyn Farr Arthur (64) was called to the Bar (M) in 1975 and elected as a Bencher in 2001. He was the Lord Mayor of London from 2002 to 2003. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2002 and a Circuit Judge in November 2007. In 2008 he was appointed the Designated Family Judge for Luton.
