Circuit Judge: Death in Service

The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, and the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Michael Gove MP, were saddened to learn of the death of His Honour Judge Martin John Cardinal on 25 February 2016.

Martin John Cardinal (63) was admitted as a Solicitor in 1977. He was appointed Legal Chairman of the Mental Health Review Tribunal in 1987, an Assistant Recorder in 1998, a Deputy District Judge in 1992, a District Judge in 1994, a Recorder in 2000 and Circuit Judge in 2004. He was Chancellor for the Diocese of Birmingham from 2005 to 2012 and Diversity and Community Relations Judge from 2005 to 2011.
