Circuit Judge Appointment: Mairs

Subject to HM The Queen’s approval of the Royal Warrant, Robin Gordon James Mairs is to be appointed as a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Chris Grayling MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd.

He is expected to take up post on 26 January 2015. The Lord Chief Justice will deploy him to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Newcastle-upon-Tyne Combined Court Centre.

Robin Gordon James Mairs, aged 45, will be known as His Honour Judge Mairs. He was called to the Bar (G) in 1992. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2009 and as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Health, Education and Social Care Chamber (Mental Health – Restricted Patients Panel) in 2011.
