Circuit Judge Appointment: Hess

The Queen has appointed District Judge Edward John Watkin Hess to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Michael Gove MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Western Circuit, based at Portsmouth Combined Court Centre with effect from 17 June 2015.

Edward John Watkin Hess, aged 52, will be known as His Honour Judge Hess. He was called to the Bar (M) in 1985. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2002, as a Deputy District Judge (Principal Registry of the Family Division) in 2003, as a Recorder in 2009 and as a District Judge(Principal Registry of the Family Division) in 2010.
