The Queen has appointed District Judge Melissa Sophia Clarke to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Michael Gove MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed her to the South Eastern Circuit with effect from 4 December 2015.

Notes to editors

Melissa Sophia Clarke, aged 46, will be known as Her Honour Judge Melissa Clarke. She was admitted as a Solicitor in 1994. She was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2008, as a District Judge in 2011 and as a Recorder in 2012. She is authorised to sit as a Deputy High Court Judge.
