Circuit Judge Appointment: Ashworth

The Queen has appointed William Rupert Ashworth to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Gauke MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Western Circuit, based at Portsmouth Combined Court Centre, with effect from 22 January 2018.

Notes to editors

William Rupert Ashworth, aged 45, will be known as His Honour Judge Ashworth. He was called to the Bar (I) in 1996 and Admitted as a Solicitor in 2000. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2006 and a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2011. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2012.
