Appointment of a Salaried Judge of the Upper Tribunal: Smith

HM The Queen has appointed Lesley Kay Smith to be a Salaried Judge of the Upper Tribunal on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Chris Grayling MP and the Senior President of Tribunals, the Right Honourable Lord Justice Sullivan.

The Senior President of Tribunals has assigned her to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber with effect from 1 July 2015.

Notes to editors

Lesley Kay Smith, aged 52, will be known as Upper Tribunal Judge Smith. She was admitted as a Solicitor in 1997. She was appointed as a Fee-paid Lawyer Chairman of the Rent Assessment Panel (now known as Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Property Chamber) in 2011.
