Appointment of a Circuit Judge: Pates

The Queen has appointed District Judge Richard Andrew Pates to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Michael Gove MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Northern Circuit, based at Chester Civil and Family Court with effect from 9 November 2015.

Notes to editors

District Judge Richard Andrew Pates, aged 46, will be known as His Honour Judge Pates. He was called to the Bar (L) in 1993. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2003 and as a District Judge in 2008.
