Statement from the Office for Judicial Complaints - Mrs Clipson

16 February 2009

“Following a complaint concerning a magistrate, Mrs Clipson, a conduct investigation took place that recommended her removal from the Magistracy. A letter was sent to Mrs Clipson informing her that her removal from the Magistracy was a possible result of this inquiry and highlighting her right to have an independent review body reconsider her case before a final decision was made. After hearing additional evidence, including oral evidence from Mrs Clipson, the review body has concluded that Mrs Clipson should not be removed, but issued with a reprimand and provided with additional training.

“The Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice have considered this recommendation and agree with this approach.”
