The Rt Hon Sir Robert Andrew Morritt CVO

Born 5 February 1938.

The Right Honourable Sir Andrew Morritt CVO is the Chancellor of the High Court, a post which following the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 replaced the former office of Vice Chancellor of the Supreme Court. Sir Andrew was appointed as Vice-Chancellor in October 2000.

Junior Counsel to Attorney-General in Charity Matters 1972-77;

QC 1977; Attorney-General to the Prince of Wales 1978-88;

High Court Judge (Chancery Division) 1988-94;

Vice-Chancellor of County Palatine of Lancaster 1991-94;

Lord Justice of Appeal 1994-2000;

President, Council of the Inns of Court and the Bar, 1997-2000;

Treasurer of Lincoln's Inn 2005.

Served on the Advisory Committee on Legal Education between 1969-73 and the Top Salaries Review Body 1982-87.
