Protocol for Victim Advocates' pilot
This is a protocol for a scheme currently being piloted in five Crown Court centres, which allows the family of the victim of murder or manslaughter an opportunity to make a statement in open court about the effect of that crime on the family. A leaflet on how the scheme is going to work is available.
The pilots will run until April 2007 at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey), Birmingham Crown Court, Cardiff Crown Court, Manchester Crown Court and Winchester Crown Court.
