Work shadow a judge
The judicial work shadowing scheme gives lawyers who may not previously have thought about a judicial career, or who would like to know more about the role of a judge, the chance to find out what it would be like to sit judicially before deciding whether to apply.
The scheme enables solicitors and barristers to spend up to three days observing the work of a judge, both in and out of court.
Applicants can shadow a:
- Circuit Judge (crime and civil)
- District Judge (Magistrates' courts) (crime)
- District Judge (civil)
- Tribunal Judge
Reasonable adjustments are available for disabled lawyers who are interested in work shadowing.
We have produced a leaflet which provides further information about the scheme.
