Biography of Rt. Hon Lord Justice Matthew Thorpe, Head of International Family Justice

Educated at Stowe and Balliol College, Oxford.

Called to the Bar, Inner Temple, 1961. A mixed practice until taking Silk in 1980, thereafter specialising in family law. Counsel to the Cleveland Inquiry 1987. Appointed a judge of the High Court, Family Division, in 1988. Appointed Lord Justice of Appeal in 1995.

In January 2005, appointed Head of International Family Justice for England and Wales.

Chair of : President's International Committee, President's interdisciplinary Committee, President's Ancillary Relief Advisory group, the National Interdisciplinary Forum, The Interdisciplinary Education & Training Committee and Parentline Plus.
