An independent review by Baroness Stern, of the way in which rape complaints are handled by public authorities, was published today (Monday 15 March).
Commenting on the findings Lord Justice Thomas, Deputy Head of Criminal Justice, said:
“The judiciary warmly welcomes this review. Baroness Stern has produced a well-researched and important piece of work. We hope it will lead to the public being better informed about the way in which rape cases are dealt with.
“Her report makes clear the importance of careful preparation of evidence and the willingness of juries to convict where there is proper evidence.”
